LaRouche and top aide joke about "chimpanzees" in the White House

The above video clip is taken from the LaRouche Political Action Committee's weekly webcast of June 8, 2011. Let's examine it a bit, so that, for just this once, LaRouche won't be able to able to wiggle out from under his blunder.

Some "snapshots" from the video:

Lyndon the Baboon--participating in the webcast from his zoo cage in Germany--cracks up over chimpanzee joke.

Sky Shields of the LaRouche Youth Movement. He'd just finished summing up the show's theme, but LaRouche (who hates being upstaged) proceeded to undercut him--savagely--with the racist joke. Wonder what Sky's really thinking behind that poker face?

Cyborg sent from the future to protect the LaRouche movement from Terminators. She is very, very puzzled by the behavior of her charges, but once her positronic brain figures it out, maybe she'll extend a hand to Sky and say, "Come with me if you want to live."

John Hoefle (a/k/a "Darwin") looks quite pleased with himself for providing LaRouche with the correct answer. Give Darwin a banana.

Factnet member calls attention to the chimp joke:

Posting by "Fightapathy," June 9:

In this week's Weekly Report, its "Johnny Dangerously" or, alternatively, "John Hoefle Puts His Foot in His Mouth".

Right at the very end, as they're about to sign off, THE DEAR LEADER rhetorically asks,

"Where does a chimpanzee go to vote in the U.S. elections?"

JOHN HOEFLE's response?

"I think its the White House."

Some lively chuckling by the participants occurs. I can't help but think its rather risque on the part of EIR's senior economist, considering the flak they've gotten in the past for comparing Obama to various primates.

I noticed Sky Shields displaying amusement, but a hand obscured his mouth, as though he felt some invisible urge to hide himself from what SOME have criticized THE DEAR LEADER as being racism.

"But hey, the black kid in the room thought it was okay, so maybe it was."

The final screen shot left at the end of the weekly report ought to be copied and posted over at LaRouchePlanet. What a characteristic photo of Lyn beaming like a school boy at John's bit of humour!

LaRouche supporter "Xandufar" tries to deny the joke was racist; others on Factnet disagree:

"Xandufar," June 10:

Here's the problem: You're thinking is so weak that you can't help imagining an innuendo of "racism". It's as if Dennis King would do well by accusing the mass media of anti-semitism over the Weiner scandal. When you are either unwilling, or unable to contemplate axioms, than the rest follows.

"kheris," June 10:

I watched the entire video that fightapathy posted. What came across is a trio of sycophants waiting for their cues from LaRouche.

I don't know what axioms you are referring to, but I do know that there are plenty of folks who would immediately bristle at the reference about where would chimpanzees vote. There have been plenty of references to Pres. G.W. Bush and monkeys, but there is a context attached to comments about monkeys and African-Americans that adds the tint of racism regardless of what the speaker intended. Call such listeners overly sensitive if you like, but it's a reality that cannot be glossed over...

Your analogy is as lame as the person you admire. If the Weiner scandal had pictures of Weiner with some big hook nose, or looking like a rabbi, or some other obvious reference to his ethnicity, then you are right, the attack could be deemed as anti-semitic regardless of the origin of the scandal. So far, other than obvious references to his name, I have not seen anything that identifies the scandal as anything specific to his ethnicity or religion. Referring to chimpanzees, a comparison LaDouche already used before for Obama, is no critique of any policy of the White House, Congress or any other identifiable figure other than the implication that Obama is an ape (I can't say a primate since even LaDouche is a primate).

Xandufar, June 11:

My point is precisely the fact that whether you believe it or not, there was not the slightest hint of racism in the dialogue, providing you understand the context, follow argument, and get the joke. The fact that you see it any other way suggests to me that you are either unable or unwilling to do any of the above. Furthermore, you twist the facts, and slander the participants in the video by accusing them of racism. The fact that kheris admits that she does not know what axioms I'm referring to, and that you agree with kheris, proves that the accusation of racism comes from a position of ignorance. If you are not ignorant, than you are a slanderer indeed.

What possible context or argument was there aside from LaRouche's question and Hoefle's answer, followed by giggles all around? Or is the fact that the African-American giggled proof that it's OK and anyone who sees it otherwise is hypersensitive?

Furthermore, you twist the facts, and slander the participants in the video by accusing them of racism.

The racism was certainly implicit in the comment, reflecting LaRouche and his team's willingness to smirk in the face of the long and painful history of Africans and African-Americans being held as being less than fully human. The question came out of the blue at the very end and everyone in the video was amused. Those are facts.

Well perhaps you will take the time to instruct me. If there is any ignorance in evidence it is on the video and is further abetted by your willingness to discount the historical context that, at the very least, calls into question the judgement of all of the participants starting with LaRouche, who asked the question.

You can view the full June 8 webcast at http://www.larouchepac.org/node/18388. Some people may think that the final embarrassing moments will soon be disapparated by LaRouche's computer-geek Death Eaters in the "war room" on his Virginia farm. I doubt it, since removing the chimpanzee question/answer from the video would be acknowledging that LaRouche is not infallible. Such a step would be the equivalent--in LaRouche's cult-universe--of destroying Voldemort's last Horcrux.--DK.
